Honeybee Compass Earrings | #14
Honeybee Compass Earrings | #14
Truly creatures of summertime, bees use the sun as a fixed reference point. As such, the sun anchors their internal compasses, even on cloudy days. When a bee finds a lovely patch of pollen and nectar-rich flowers, it maps the location by remembering the angle between the hive, the flowers, and the sun.
And so, I have created these earrings for that glorious aspect of bee behavior: a honeybee compass.
These hexagon earrings are made to match the necklaces, and they feature dots and lines radiating from the sunny citrine gemstone at the center. There is an inscribed dot/line pattern to resemble a compass, though still feels a bit unruly and natural.
They have been oxidized and hand polished for an organic look, and to bring out the low-lights.
☀ Each earrings measures about 22mm (0.86") tall

☀ This piece is part of the Honeybee Collection, which features rich, glowing honey-colored citrine gemstones, real leaf print, honeybee silhouettes, red brass pollen granules, and regal crown bezels. See the Honeybee Collection section for more one of a kind pieces!
☀ Keep in mind that some of these citrines have some surface fissures, pits, and crackles where the inner textures touch the surface. These stones are very organic and natural. Which, I think adds to their charm! But be sure to look at all photos prior to purchase.

♥ All of the pieces in my collections are handmade and hand-finished, and make use of natural and recycled materials. All items will have slight, natural imperfections rendering each piece unique. It is these variations and imperfections which denote their handcrafted nature and individual character, specially made for every wearer.

♥ To create my antiqued pieces, the sterling silver is oxidize until dark gray. Oxidation is a process that happens over time naturally to sterling silver. Then the piece is brushed and polished until the highlights are lighter and the lowlights are darkened. But this oxidization is not permanent, and will fade in the areas that rub, and stay dark in the recesses. The patina will change over time, making your piece unique to you, and growing more beautiful with wear.
