“It’s the great, big, broad land ’way up yonder,
It’s the forests where silence has lease;
It’s the beauty that thrills me with wonder,
It’s the stillness that fills me with peace.”
– Robert Service, The Spell of the Yukon

Rugged and weathered. Of the mountains.

This necklace is made from a natural, snowy dendritic agate/merlinite stone, which is set in a hand smithed bezel of sterling silver. The gemstone features a winterscape that has been set to emphasize the frosty landscape within the stone.

Accenting the stone is a textured border to resemble an aged branch stretching out into winter. Hidden behind the pendant is a silhouette of an owl in flight sawn out of the back, revealing the winter scene from the back of the gemstone.

Quiet steward keeping watch over the forest.

The pendant and chain have been oxidized and polished to give the necklace an organic and weathered feel.

☀ Measures about 41mm across
☀ Suspended from a chain adjustable from 17" - 20"
☀ See the photo of the pendant being held and the photos of it next to an American quarter (which measures 25mm) for size reference

♥ Made in my work studio using time-consuming, age-old metalsmithing techniques. This piece is made with solid craftsmanship and all parts of this piece have been hand-fabricated.
______________________________________________

♥ All of the pieces in my collections are handmade and hand-finished, and make use of natural and recycled materials. All items will have slight, natural imperfections rendering each piece unique. It is these variations and imperfections which denote their handcrafted nature and individual character, specially made for every wearer.
______________________________________________

♥ To create my antiqued pieces, the sterling silver is oxidize until dark gray. Oxidation is a process that happens over time naturally to sterling silver. Then the piece is brushed and polished until the highlights are lighter and the lowlights are darkened. But this oxidization is not permanent, and will fade in the areas that rub, and stay dark in the recesses. The patina will change over time, making your piece unique to you, and growing more beautiful with wear.
