"Once, for all the darkling sea,
You your voices raised how clearly,
Striking in when tempest sung;
Hoisting up the storm-sail cheerly,
Life is storm–let storm! you rung."
- excerpt by Herman Melville

The natural teal blue kyanite gemstones drink the light and holds it within. Looking into the stone is like looking up towards the light while underwater, dotted with crackling striations and dark inclusions like clusters of algae or leaves from nearby trees.

Earrings for the deep Atlantic, all saturated blues and shadows.
Earrings for gathering sea storms around you.

The gemstones are simply set in straight bezels. They are suspended in slightly graduated size from top to bottom. At the very bottom of the earrings is a little frond made of molten silver and hand sawn and smoothed before affixing them to the gemstone.

They are suspended from a simple disc that can be worn in front of or behind the earlobe.

The string of gemstones is secured by a simple stud made with melted down sterling silver so it might look like an organic stone. Smoothed and polished and set atop a post.

The earrings were given a high polish so they would look as though they were dipped in water.

☀ Earrings measure about 3" from the post on the stud to the bottom of the frond charm.

♥ Made in my work studio using time-consuming, age-old metalsmithing techniques. This piece is made with solid craftsmanship and all parts of this piece have been hand-fabricated.
______________________________________________

♥ All of the pieces in my collections are handmade and hand-finished, and make use of natural and recycled materials. All items will have slight, natural imperfections rendering each piece unique. It is these variations and imperfections which denote their handcrafted nature and individual character, specially made for every wearer.
______________________________________________

♥ To create my antiqued pieces, the sterling silver is oxidize until dark gray. Oxidation is a process that happens over time naturally to sterling silver. Then the piece is brushed and polished until the highlights are lighter and the lowlights are darkened. But this oxidization is not permanent, and will fade in the areas that rub, and stay dark in the recesses. The patina will change over time, making your piece unique to you, and growing more beautiful with wear.
