"Once, for all the darkling sea,
You your voices raised how clearly,
Striking in when tempest sung;
Hoisting up the storm-sail cheerly,
Life is storm–let storm! you rung."
- excerpt by Herman Melville
The natural teal blue kyanite gemstones drink the light and holds it within. Looking into the stone is like looking up towards the light while underwater, dotted with crackling striations and dark inclusions like clusters of algae or leaves from nearby trees.
A ring for the deep Atlantic, all saturated blues and shadows.
Rings for gathering sea storms in your hands.
The gemstones are set in straight bezels. Accenting the stones are little sterling silver pebbles, like beach stones smooth and shining from a recent wave. And little fronds made of molten silver and hand sawn and smoothed before affixing them to the ring.
The bands have been textured to look similar to rippling waves on the sea, irregular and uniform at the same time.
The rings were given a high polish so they would look as though they were dipped in water. And in photographing these rings in full sunshine, I discovered that the light positively bounces off the bands. Sunshine splays from the textured surface, speckling your fingers and clothes, just like light reflecting from the tops of waves.
☀ The rectangle band measures 4mm wide, fits true to size.

♥ Made in my work studio using time-consuming, age-old metalsmithing techniques. This piece is made with solid craftsmanship and all parts of this piece have been hand-fabricated.
______________________________________________
♥ All of the pieces in my collections are handmade and hand-finished, and make use of natural and recycled materials. All items will have slight, natural imperfections rendering each piece unique. It is these variations and imperfections which denote their handcrafted nature and individual character, specially made for every wearer.

♥ To create my antiqued pieces, the sterling silver is oxidize until dark gray. Oxidation is a process that happens over time naturally to sterling silver. Then the piece is brushed and polished until the highlights are lighter and the lowlights are darkened. But this oxidization is not permanent, and will fade in the areas that rub, and stay dark in the recesses. The patina will change over time, making your piece unique to you, and growing more beautiful with wear.
