Queen Bee Necklace | #1

The inspiration behind this design was the queen bee herself. All the honey of the world and the fruit of honeybee pollination are the good work of female worker bees. 

Endlessly burdened by pollen and braving the wide unknowns for the good of the hive. Tending, gathering, and protecting all their days.

The workers carry this incredible responsibility, but the queen is the mother to the entire hive, and larger than the other honeybees. 

This piece is a reflection of her. Large and bold, and crowned with a circlet of flowers. The most fitting adornment for a honeybee queen.

These necklaces are comprised of freeform citrine druzy clusters set inside floral borders. The backs of the pendants feature the faint impression of a honeybee.

It has been oxidized and hand polished for an organic look, and to bring out the lowlights of the flowers and bee impression.

☀ Keep in mind that some of these citrines have some surface fissures, pits, and crackles where the inner textures touch the surface. These stones are very organic and natural. Which, I think adds to their charm! But be sure to look at all photos prior to purchase.

♥ Made in my work studio using time-consuming, age-old metalsmithing techniques. This piece is made with solid craftsmanship and all parts of this piece have been hand-fabricated.

♥ All of the pieces in my collections are handmade and hand-finished, and make use of natural and recycled materials. All items will have slight, natural imperfections rendering each piece unique. It is these variations and imperfections which denote their handcrafted nature and individual character, specially made for every wearer.

♥ To create my antiqued pieces, the sterling silver is oxidize until dark gray. Oxidation is a process that happens over time naturally to sterling silver. Then the piece is brushed and polished until the highlights are lighter and the lowlights are darkened. But this oxidization is not permanent, and will fade in the areas that rub, and stay dark in the recesses. The patina will change over time, making your piece unique to you, and growing more beautiful with wear.
