A design for grabbing hold of the darkness and tearing until it bleeds.
These are made from faceted onyx gemstones in sterling silver settings, held by hand-fabricated "claw" prongs made to look like something fierce is clutching the gemstone. Below the onyx are little hessonite garnet gemstones freely dangling, like little drops of blood dripping from the darkness.
Set top a split rectangle band. On the insides of the bands I have inscribed the words "VINCE NOCTEM", an old Latin saying meaning “Conquer the Night.
These can be worn with the garnet dangling towards the end of the hand or the wrist. ______________________________________________
☀ Size as measured on the mandrel.
☀ Note about the stones: A few of the onyx gemstones have etch marks from the cabbing that look like scratches on the tops. The marks are hard to see except in the right light. Normally I would refacet stones with imperfections from the lapidarist, but since these designs have sharp claws wrapped around them, I kept them as is because they felt fitting!

Made in my smithing studio using time consuming, age-old metalsmithing techniques. This piece is made with solid craftsmanship and all parts of this piece have been hand-fabricated.

All of the pieces in my collections are handmade and hand-finished, and make use of natural and recycled materials. All items will have slight, natural imperfections rendering each piece unique. It is these variations and imperfections which denote their handcrafted nature and individual character, specially made for every wearer.

To create my antiqued pieces, the sterling silver is oxidize until dark gray. Oxidation is a process that happens over time naturally to sterling silver. Then the piece is brushed and polished until the highlights are lighter and the lowlights are darkened. But this oxidization is not permanent, and will fade in the areas that rub, and stay dark in the recesses. The patina will change over time, making your piece unique to you.
